Maternity Photoshoot In The Rockies

Last year, my uber talented baby brother took us on a road trip to the Canadian Rockies to shoot our maternity photos.

When your siblings are talented AF, you capitalize on that shiet!

Since before I was even remotely pregnant, I dreamed of doing a photo shoot in the Rockies. You know…in all my pregnancy glow and earthy motherly aura, wearing the most obnoxiously glamorous gown I could find, with beautiful luxurious hair flowing in the crisp mountain breeze and full but firm and petite belly. Yes, yes…just like that…

Well, as with all things in life, it didn’t quite work out that way. Summer of 2018 in Alberta was filled with smoke from devastating forest fires in British Columbia. Due to poor visibility, we had to wait pretty late into my pregnancy to do our photos. By the time it was clear enough (not perfect but good enough), I was very incredibly pregnant and felt so un-glamorous, uncomfortable, and nowhere near the beautiful pregnant goddess I imagined I would be. (as an aside, is anyone truly a beautiful pregnant goddess in real life?? I can dream)

It was tiring to shuffle around with my big self in a long gown. On top of that, fall in the Rockies is COLD as hell! At least I was able to wear my UGGs the entire time. Good thing I didn’t follow through with tossing them out in my once-ambitious period of attempting to up my style game.

Anyway, I am so happy that we did this photo shoot. Despite me feeling like a house, looking at the photos now, I’ll admit I think they are gorgeous! I guess that’s the point of maternity photos – to document a special time in your life and make you look like that pregnant goddess you imagined you would be, even if you didn’t feel like it.

If you are not currently following RNGYN on Instagram, you’re seriously missing out. My brother is such a talented and accomplished photographer. His photos will bring joy and beauty into your life.
